TheDestiny 2community continues to mourn the loss of Lance Reddick, one of the actors behind the Bungie FPS, and some players have a unique idea for how developers could honor him. Lance Reddick went beyond Hollywood to act for games likeDestiny 2and its predecessor,Payday 2,Quantum Break, and more, and many fans are eager to pay homage to the actor’s legacy.
Since Lance Reddick passed away on March 17, social media has lit up with countless accounts voicing their appreciation for the late actor and lamenting his loss. Outside his presence in gaming, Lance Reddick has acted inThe Wire,theJohn Wickseries,Fringe,Godzilla vs. King Kong, and many other major film and TV projects. Because his role as Zavala was prominent throughoutDestinylore, the community grew to love the character and actor alike and some worry that his death won’t be recognized in-game, while others have expressed their own ideas for commemoration.

Reddit user Mr_master89 has garnered over 11,000 upvotes on a post in which they complement a screenshot ofZavala fromDestiny 2with an in-game idea they had for remembering Lance Reddick. Mr_master89 suggests that Bungie adds a new exotic glaive weapon with a name referencing the actor. The name that Mr_master89 has given the exotic glaive is “Reddick’s Lance,” and much of the Reddit audience has echoed their sentiment in hopes that Bungie gets the message.
While manyDestiny 2players agreed with Mr_master89’s idea to commemorate Lance Reddick in-game, others shared ideas of their own which Bungie may choose to do instead. SomeDestiny 2fans like the idea of a Lance Reddick Claymore to wield on the battlefield, while one thinks a chest piece called “eyes up Guardian” would be more fitting, and some players have added their own flavor text to Mr_master89’s initial glaive concept. One Reddit user suggested a “Chronicle” of Reddick, another recommended a month dedicated toDestiny 2Titans, and further ideas for pieces of gear that could be worn were submitted.
Zavala has been akeyDestinycharactersince the original game, so there’s worry in the community about where the hero goes after the loss of Lance Reddick. Given the live service model ofDestiny 2, Bungie is regularly updating the FPS with bug fixes, nerfs, buffs, and fresh content, the latter of which these fans point to as a way of paying homage to Lance Reddick.
