Detailed recreations of games within different games are always impressive spectacles that are seldom seen in space shooters. But an ambitiousDestiny 2player erected an uncanny copy of a climactic moment from the Forsaken Keep expansion in his clan’sWarframedojo.
Warframe’s clan dojos feature an extensive customization system that can yield artful environments ranging from futuristic, sci-fi sanctums to more traditional zen gardens. Such creations demand hours of commitment and a massive investment of in-game resources. But few players opt to recreate environments from other games, much less the Bungie’s rival space-opera shooter,Destiny 2.

Reddit user, u/valtristk, a dual Guardian and Tenno, created the icy caverns, ruined halls, and imposing Riven raid boss using nothing but the pre-existing assets available inWarframe. Most titles with massive-multiplayer elements feature customizable characters, vehicles, or buildings, andWarframehas one of the best customization systems of any MMOon the market. Even with a flexible system to work with, the Riven recreation represents a true mastery of the game’s aesthetic options, and tremendous familiarity with theDestiny 2source material.
WhileDestiny 2andWarframecompete for a similar player base, the games' rivalry is rife with winks and nods to each other through Easter eggs and community interactions.Destiny 2-themed April Fools jokes are common on the Warframe subreddit, due in large part to constant comparisons between the titles. Seeing u/valtristk bring the best of one game into the other is another excellent example of the two communities colliding in a positive way.
Despite their similarities, both action-shooters have a unique feel and distinct experiences to offer. Both titles are also frequently redefined, expanded, or enhanced with updates from their respective developers. The recently released Heart of Deimos expansion introduced another open world environment and gaveWarframeplayers access to the new Necramech vehicle type. Meanwhile, shortly after making the jump to Steam,Destiny 2is gearing up for its forthcoming Beyond Light expansion.
Bungie has announcedBeyond Light will trim a great deal of content fromDestiny 2in order to streamline the experience and make room for new content, such as the new Stasis subclasses. While the decision to remove areas and vault weapons has struck some players as controversial, the community as a whole seems optimistic and eager for fresh content.
Both titles will be available on next-gen consoles at launch, likely spurring further comparisons between the two sci-fi epics. While debates aboutwhetherWarframeis better thanDestiny 2are inevitable, one hopes that the games' friendly rivalry will continue to express itself in creative, inspiring ways like u/valtristk’s custom dojo.
