While Season 23 is the last Season ofDestiny 2, that doesn’t mean the end of regular content updates for the game. AfterThe Final Shapelaunches, future updates will comein the form of Episodesinstead of Seasons. While minimal details have been given as to how Episodes will differ from Seasons, players can expect Season of the Wish to follow the same format as the previous three Seasons.

As usual, players will have to do a weekly set of quest objectives to advance the story as they earn new seasonal loot. Just like with previous Seasons, that also means that players will want to start farming the new currency known as Lair Keys.

How to Get Lair Keys

For players who have been active inDestiny 2over the past year since the launch ofLightfall, they will likely already know what they need to do. Lair Keys arejust like Defiant Keys, Deep Dive Keys, Salvage Keys, and Witch Keys in that they are acquired by doing non-seasonal activities. The big difference this time is that in-game tooltips indicate thatplayers have a greater chance of acquiring Lair Keys by playing activities in the Dreaming City along with the usual Ritual Playlists (AKA Gambit, Vanguard Ops, and Crucible).

Even in these activities, getting a Lair Key is not guaranteed. Fortunately, the trend of not needing Lair Keys to progress the seasonal story has returned for the final Season ofDestiny 2. Beyond random drops, players can also get Lair Keys from other sources. Players get their first Lair Key when they complete the first week of the seasonal story. In addition, players can get two Lair Keysfrom Rivenwhen they reach ranks seven and 13.

The Season Pass is also a good source for getting some extra Lair Keys as well. Four Lair Keys can be obtained by reaching Ranks 12, 24, 52, and 92. Just like with previous seasonal keys, players can only hold up to five Lair Keys.

How to Use Lair Keys

Destiny 2has been nothing if not consistent this past year. Just like with theprevious Seasonsof Year 6, players do not have to do anything to use their keys. Upon completing either Riven’s Lair or The Coil, players will come across a treasure chest. If players have a Lair Key, it will be used automatically when the chest opens. While players can still get rewards from completing these activities without a Lair Key, they will be significantly better if players do have keys on them.
