TheDestiny 2Leviathan raid has already been successfully completed in impressive fashion. From thesub-30 minutespeedruns, to the speedy defeats of Emperor Calus, players have wowed fans of the game with their prowess. But this latest attempt at completing the raid may be the best thing yet.
A fireteam made up of just two players manages to show every otherDestiny 2player up by defeating Emperor Calus together, just the two of them. The two players, Gladd and ITS IRON, absolutely melt the final raid boss and they don’t even use the infamous’sneaky spot' exploitto get the job done.
Gladd explains that the space/realm part of the raid was “considered impossible or unlikely by many” who doubted that a solo player could complete it successfully. “There’s just so little time to kill 2 bubble psions and 3 floor psions every “symbol phase,” says the triumphantDestiny 2player, who also notes that it’s very easy to get “sucked through” the barriers in this section of the raid.
Gladd says that the key to success in the space realm is to strafe as “sliding from left to right and right to left helps you avoid the purple blasts”. Meleeing a psion can also stop the player character’s forward momentum, helping to prevent them from being sucked through on a late barrier spawn. This includes when the other player guesses the wrong psion in the Throne Room.
The player also provides atip for defeatingCalus, pointing out that there is a pattern for the symbols in the Throne Room. According to Gladd, if Blades are called then there is a 100% chance that it’s the Chalice psion, if Sun is called it’s 100% the Beast psion, and if Chalice is called it will be either the Sun or Blades psion. Gladd adds that “the correct psion is never the one diagonal the called symbol”.
It took the two-man fireteam a massive 25 hours worth of attempts from beginning to end, and the whole thing was “very stressful”. But despite these downsides, there are surely plenty of otherDestiny 2players who will try their hand at this two-player Calus defeat just to feel the thrill of an unlikely victory for themselves. For everybody else who wants to face a significant challenge with a larger raid team, though, then theprestige version of the Leviathan raidwill be available soon.
Destiny 2is out now for PS4 and Xbox One. It will release on June 15, 2025 for PC.
