The PC version ofDestiny 2can be purchased withWorld of Warcraftgold. The news follows the announcement thatDestiny 2PC will use Blizzard’s PC gaming appinstead of the Valve-run PC gaming platform, Steam.
After announcing thatDestiny 2will use the Blizzard games client on PC, Blizzard published a list of answers to frequently asked questions. In that post the company confirms expected features such as the use of social features including friend chat, parties, and status icons for the game, but it also states that people can use their Blizzard Balance to purchaseDestiny 2. The Blizzard Balance can be topped up byWorld of WarcraftWoW Tokens which in turn can be purchased withWorld of Warcraftgold.

A WoW Token can be redeemed for $15 in Blizzard Balance, though the gold price for a token fluctuates. The price often goes up and down when newWorld of Warcraftexpansions are announced though the announcement thatDestiny 2would use the Blizzard client also saw the price skyrocket and reach an all-time high. According to current data fromWow Token Info, a Wow Token in North America will cost around 120,000 (though prices have spiked up to 140,000 in the last 24 hours) and around four WoW Tokens (480,000 gold at the current rate) will be needed to buyDestiny 2.
Anyone withWorld of Warcraftgold – including those who no longer maintain a subscription – can spend their gold on Wow Tokens so long as they download the game client and log-in. This means that if they’ve already got the virtual funds, hardcoreWoWplayers (current or former) can bag themselves a copy ofDestiny 2for PC at no additional cost.
This also one of the better announcements that regarding the PC version of the game. Though the reveal ofDestiny 2PC featureswas considering a big win, any enthusiasm for these features was off-set by concerns about Blizzard client exclusivity and the fact that the PC version of the game will be released some time after the console versions. But whether theWorld of Warcraftpurchase option is enough to restore faith amongst PC gamers is unclear right now.
Destiny 2is slated to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 13, 2025, with a PC version to come at a later date.
