Summary

In its latest weeklyDestiny 2update, Bungie reveals an update coming to Banshee-44 in Season 23, allowing players to focus select foundry weapons. As a live service title,Destiny 2continues to evolve and change each season, both with new story content as well as quality of life sandbox improvements. Even though Season of the Witch is about at the halfway mark, it hasn’t stopped Bungie from sharing new details as to what fans can expect from the upcoming Season 23.

One of the bigger announcements Bungie made in advance of Season 23 is thatDestiny 2 will be adjusting the in-game economy. Namely, Legendary Shards will be removed completely, which will be causing a ripple effect throughout the game considering how often these resources are needed. Ritual weapons, gear focusing, and even the weekend merchant Xur will be getting adjustments, placing a greater focus on glimmer and engrams are the primary ways to interact going forward. However, Bungie has additional plans for how it intends to let players gain new weapons at vendors.

In this week’s blog post, Bungie revealed upcoming changes to the Gunsmith Banshee-44 at the Tower. Starting next season,Destiny 2players will be able to focus specific foundry weapons, giving them a dedicated way to obtain a specific and desired perk roll. Initially, Banshee is offering weapons from Suros, Hakke, Veist, and Omolon from Seasons 16-19, essentially always staying at least four seasonal releases old, with Season 24 then including weapons from Season 20. In addition, they will be removed from the Legendary Engrams found in the world loot pool and can only be acquired directly from Banshee.

During Season 23, Bungie is making the following weapons able for focusing at Banshee:

Veist

Omolon

It’s worth noting that Banshee will only offer two foundries at a time, with one foundry rotating out after each daily reset. For example, the first day will have Omolon and Suros, with Day 2 moving to Suros and Hakke, Day 3 showcasing Hakke and Veist, with the Day 4 ending with Veist and Omolon. Future releases will likely include more foundries, ensuring that the schedule will continue to change further down the road.Destiny 2players will need to ensure they have 3 Gunsmith Engrams, which can be obtained for vendor rank ups as well as completing lost sectors, and at least 5,000 glimmer to focus these weapons.

In addition to economy and weapon focusing changes, Bungie also recently announced the next weapon in line to receive a catalyst.Season 23 will grant the Thorn hand cannon its own catalyst, following in the footsteps of Monte Carlo, which also just received a catalyst in Season of the Witch. While earning it will require a bit of RNG luck, unlocking the Thorn catalyst will help the weapon feel more powerful with added stat bonuses and a new effect.

Destiny 2is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
