Death Strandingplayers may be getting excited about thepossibility of a Director’s Cut, but it appears there is still a bit of content left to find in the original game. One lucky fan named aadipie has shared a video of a hidden cutscene that players can only find under specific circumstances, with the discovery blowing the game’s community away.
WhileDeath Strandingmay be a polarizing game, it is hard to argue that the project is full of detail. No matter what players are doing, it is always clear that an incredible amount of care went into the story of Sam Porter Bridges and the steps he takes throughout. Whether it be painful injuries to Sam’s feet, struggles due to thirst, or hidden animations with BB, there is a lot to see for those that are thorough and enjoy exploring every nook and cranny of the game’s world.

Aadipie’s discovery sees Sam putting BB into the artificial womb within one of the private rooms, though the player’s version of the scene looks a fair bit different from the usual moment. The traditional sequence sees Sam laying in bed to rest, hooking up BBin a similar way to the rare cutscene. However, Sam normally connects BB quickly and carefully, showing that he is fully conscious and feeling healthy. He also gets in bed carefully, laying down properly so that he can get comfortable.
In the rare scene, Sam fumbles with the cords used to connect BB to the private room’s device. After succeeding and getting BB in place, Sam stumbles away from the wall, with the character’s wobbly feet clearly visible. Sam then face-plants into the bed, passing out the second he lands on the cushioned piece of furniture. In the comments, the few players that saw the scene believed it was story-related, while many of the other Redditors were caught off guard by the scene existing at all.
To get the scene to trigger, players need to attempt to rest in a private room while meeting two specific requirements. First, BB must be suffering from autotoxemia, which occurs when BB is overly stressed. To do this, players can take a lot of damage ortrigger several BT encounters. Doing so will also see the other requirement met, as Sam needs to be near-death from exhaustion. If players make sure the character is not drinking and has taken a major beating on his latest journey, the secret scene will play.
It is easy to understand why the cutscene is rarely seen, as anyone who took care of Sam and their BB would never come across the moment. While it is hardly a game-changer, this cinematic is a fun touch that shows just how much thought director Hideo Kojima andthe rest of Kojima Productionsput into the game.
