Dead by Daylightfans that were waiting to hear any word about the game’s eventual collaboration with Funko Pops will be sorely disappointed, as Behaviour Interactive has announced that the project with Funko had been canceled. Behaviour Interactive posted the cancelation on social media, butDead by Daylightfans responded to the news with a mix of apathy, disappointment, and hope for future collaborations to be better.
Despite one collaboration falling through,Dead by Daylightis no stranger to crossovers. Last year, the asymmetrical survival horror multiplayer game had two distinctcrossovers withPUBGand with theResident Evilseries. The former was a collaboration within the battle royale shooter and brought some ofDead By Daylight’s hide-and-seek mechanics into the fold. The latter brought characters and environments from Capcom’s iconic series into The Fog via the Project W DLC, which was highlighted by Albert Wesker’s appearance as The Mastermind Killer. However, not all collaborations last, or get off the ground at all.

On Twitter,Dead by Daylightannounced that the project to create Funko Pops out of the game’s characters had been canceled due to factors and circumstances beyond their control. While this answer is vague and could mean anything, it came after months of silence. The collaboration was first announced in May 2022, just a few months before Project W was released in the game. While Funko Pops will continue to collaborate with other franchises and characters, such asGroot from Marvel’sGuardians of the Galaxy,a collaboration withDead by Daylightwill never see the light of day. However, fans reacted to the news on Twitter with little surprise, some disappointment, and hope for what the game’s future collaborative plans will be. Only time will tell whetherDead by Daylightwill bring back past crossovers such asStranger Thingsor go in a different direction.
Recently,Dead by Daylightteased a new Killerthat will be released in the coming days as part of the Tools of Torment Chapter update. While fans speculated that the new Killer would be the highlight of a crossover withThe TerminatororWarhammer 40K, the Killer was later revealed to be another original character called The Skull Merchant. Reception to the Killer’s reveal was mixed on social media, though The Skull Merchant’s gameplay was praised by players on the public test build. The Tools of Torment Chapter update will go live on March 7 on all platforms.
Despite the disappointment surrounding the failed Funko Pops project, there has never been a better time forinexperienced players to tryDead by Daylight. Between trying different characters and experiencing the upcoming Chapter, players will have plenty of things to do in the coming weeks.
