Fighting the Iron Golem, which acts as the last guardian before players can reach Anor Londo, Reddit user Quiet_Scholar_3142 initially seems to be doing quite well. They’ve taken very little damage in the opening seconds of the fight while chipping down the Golem’s health rather effectively. Then, everything goes wrong as theDark Soulsplayer aims for another swing only to be teleported into the atmosphere. Even the boss music ends once the glitch happens, letting the player know they’re truly doomed.
According to comments in Quiet_Scholar_3142’s Reddit post, this glitch isn’t always as bad as it looks. It can even be used to skip the Iron Golem boss fight inDark Souls, allowing players to reach Anor Londo without fighting it. The glitch occurs when a player attacks at the same time as the Golem goes for a grab animation, leading to the player being sent flying. However, if timed right, this glitch can be used in someDark Soulsspeedruns, but this does require a mixture of luck and skill to pull off purposely.
The Iron Golem may not be one of the most infamous FromSoftware bosses, although, like allotherDark Soulsbosses, it does have some interesting lore behind it. The Golem was initially designed to be used in training exercises, as it can be automatically be rebuilt. In the game, it acts as much less of a training exercise and more of an extremely tough foe for the player to face. The Iron Golem’s core, which gives it its power, is made from a strong soul and ancient dragon bones, although many are unsure where its ability to send players into the stratosphere comes from.
Dark Soulsis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
