Bandai Namco officially announces the bonuses gamers will receive for placing pre-orders for digital copies ofDark Souls 3on either PC, PS4, or Xbox One.
There are plenty of reasons for gamers to hesitate before placing a pre-order for a game, ranging from fears that the finished product won’t meet expectations to having to decide which retailer offers the best pre-order bonus. The pre-order bonuses forDark Souls IIIhave been officially announced, with fairly similar offers for each gaming device.
Dark Souls IIIwon’t release until April, but there are already a slew of pre-order bonuses being promoted for the game depending on which gaming device players place a pre-order for. Unlike many other games, which have separate pre-order incentives depending on which retailer it’s purchased from,Dark Souls III’s pre-order bonuses are largely based upon which gaming device players use.
For the PlayStation 4, gamers who pre-order the game will be gifted a digital version of the soundtrack, as well as a Fire Fades dynamic theme. However, the soundtrack won’t be unlocked until the game’s release, and sadly, theDark Souls IIIlimited edition PlayStation 4won’t be available outside of Japan. Xbox One players, on the other hand, will receive a free copy of the originalDark Soulsgame, courtesy of the newXbox One backward compatibilityfeature. Xbox fans will also have to wait a while for the bonus, with Bandai Namco notifying users that the code for the game should be delivered between 7-10 days after a pre-order is placed.
PC users who pre-order the game via Steam can also get in on the incentives for pre-ordering. Like PlayStation 4 players, PC gamers will receive a copy of the digital soundtrack, and gamers who own either the first or second game of theDark Soulsseries will get a $5 discount onDark Souls III. It’s unclear at this time whether the soundtrack will be delivered to users immediately, or if they also have to wait until the game’s release.
Thankfully, players who prefer physical editions of their games aren’t being neglected. Gamers who pre-order theDay One Edition of theDark Souls IIIwill also receive a physical copy of the soundtrack, as well as a collectible sleeve and a Prima starter guide. While somegamers are giving up their physical copies of games, those who still save a place on their shelves for their games shouldn’t be disappointed.
As far as the available pre-order options go, the Xbox One users seem to be getting the least interesting one, as most gamers who pre-orderDark Souls IIIhave probably already played the originalDark Souls. Even so, it’s a good opportunity to revisit the game that started it all while waiting for one of themost anticipated games of 2016.
Dark Souls IIIwill release on Aug 02, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
