The feud between Warner Bros. and Ray Fisher may be over, but that doesn’t mean the studio has to stop shading the actor who played Cyborg inZack Snyder’s Justice League.Fisher led his co-stars in calling out Whedon’s toxicityduringJustice Leaguereshoots, allegedly enabled by Jon Bergs and Geoff Johns, including claims of abusive behavior, racism, and misconduct. According to Fisher, not having the same pull as his co-stars made it easier for the following Warner Bros. executives, Walter Hamada and Ann Sarnoff, to sweep theJustice Leagueinvestigation under the rug. Now, old wounds were opened by Warner Bros. All the SnyderJustice Leaguecast members are present except for Fisher’s Cyborg, described as the film’s heart by many people. However, Warner Bros. does not envisionZack Snyder’s Justice Leagueas canon, despite theproblems of theJustice Leaguetheatrical cutthat turned Cyborg into a caricature of what his character was supposed to be. The Snyderverse fandom came out in support of Fisher while shaming the studio for participating in such antics. Due to the backlash, 12 hours later, Warner Bros. Discovery reinstated Cyborg’s profile icon into the marketing for itsJustice Leaguelineup on MAX.
Fisher’sCyborg was supposed to be inThe Flashopposite Ezra Miller. However, due to the collateral damage, Warner Bros. claimed Fisher was not fired but that “he effectively quit by refusing to work with Hamada.” Some fans have speculated that this is the reason Fisher was omitted from the MAX marketing. Regardless of what happened behind the scenes, Fisher is still a part of the officialJustice Leaguelineup whether or not Warner Bros. Discovery likes it.
Since James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU reboot aims to steer away from the Snyderverse, it is no surprise to see that reflected in the Warner Bros. Discovery marketing, which some people believe is careless in depicting the Snyderverse characters. Fisher has reunited with Zack Snyder on the upcomingRebel Moon, which should be a much better working environment than what the actor and others (Affleck described theJustice Leaguereshoots as awful) went through at Warner Bros.
