A screenshot ofCyberpunk 2077’s video settings menu was shared online via a Reddit user who got the game early by the name of DanXcel. According to Dan’s screenshot, the menu offers a “Performance” mode where the frame rate, “will be prioritized at the expense of image quality” and a “Quality” mode, where the frame rate, “will be capped at a lower value to prioritize image quality.” This is fairly common in recent games, as fellow massive open world gameAssassin’s Creed Valhallaalso has two frame rate modes.

It is important to note that dan’s screenshot is coming from their Xbox Series X, and some or all of the graphical and performance improvements that may come to the Series X and PS5 versions of the game may not arrive until themassive day one patch that will pushCyberpunk 2077to over 100GB in sizeis out, so these setting options could be subject to change. Dan also does not share specifics about the differences, nor have they shared gameplay, out of respect for developer CD Projekt Red’s embargo.

DanXcel does note however that in the game’s current state, the Performance mode runs at 60FPS, but with occasional dips and what seems to be a dynamic resolution that changes based on what is happening in the game. With that being said, Dan says they still prefer the Performance mode, as, “overall image quality doesn’t suffer enough to justify playing this game at 30fps.”

It is also important to note thatCyberpunk 2077will also be receiving even more updates for the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions next year, including Dolby Vision, Dolby’s powerful new proprietary version of HDR. Though not totally confirmed, it seems that ray-tracing will also not be featured on the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game at launch either, as it seems ray-tracing forCyberpunkwill only be supported by high-end NVIDIA PC graphics cards for now.

Cyberpunk 2077will be released on December 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X-specific versions launching in 2021.
