German developer Ion Lands released its second titleCloudpunkback in 2020. The adventure game sees players take on the role of Rania, a new delivery driver for Cloudpunk, a shady company that as Rania dropping off and collecting parcels as well as passengers.Cloudpunkdoesn’t remain a delivery driver simulator for long, as soon enough Rania meets a private investigator who enlists her help to save a young girl. WhileCloudpunkdid score some good review scores, overall it was seen as a fairly average title by critics.
However, this didn’t stopCloudpunkfrom gaining a following, especially from those interested inBlade Runner-style mysteries and worlds. Back in May 2021,Ion Lands announced a new DLC forCloudpunkalongside a new spin-off title calledNivalis. It may sound familiar toCloudpunkplayers as it is the city players travel through in the adventure title. Rather than an adventure game,Nivalisoffers players a rich, meaningful environment where they can build up their own business from scratch.

Nivalisis a life simulation game, giving players a chance to explore the newly refurbished city without forcing them to take on the role of a delivery driver. The reveal trailer forNivalisopens with an establishing shot of the city, which gives off seriousCyberpunk 2077vibes, before informing the player of their role as a small business owner. It seems that the player will initially begin their life inNivalisas the owner of a small restaurant or bar, as a lot of the early game seems to revolve around building customer relations and the reputation of a player’s business.
Interestingly, the day, night, and weather cycles will all have roles to play inNivalis. As most of the seating for the player’s establishment initially appears to be outside, when the weather is bad customers won’t turn up, and the player can do other tasks like growing vegetables in a futuristic-looking greenhouse. As well as working on their business,Nivalisplayers can also customize their apartments, similar toV’sresidence inCyberpunk 2077, but with more changes to be made.
From going fishing to making friends, there are plenty of things to do in theBlade Runner-inspired city of Nivalis. The entire city can reportedly be explored either on foot or in one of the HOVA flying vehicles fromCloudpunk. For a differentBlade Runneror cyberpunk experience, gamers can look to theBlade Runnerroleplaying game, which was funded in 3 minutes on Kickstarter last month.
