ManyCall of Dutyfans are busy speculating about a possible sequel announcement during today’s PS4 “The Future of Gaming” event. But while they look to theCall of Dutyfranchise’s future,Call of Duty: Modern WarfareandWarzoneboth have a bright future growing near.Warzone’s Season 4 just received a new in-game cinematic trailer teasing the season’s content. But hidden in the trailer is whatWarzonefans believe to be a hint at the battle royale’s next map.
TheCall of Duty: WarzoneSeason 4cinematic breaks down some important details about the season. But as the trailer nears its end, it zooms out from the map to show Verdansk at a distance. Verdansk isn’t the only city on the map, though. Another location named Urzikstan is also marked on the map. No further details were revealed about Urzikstan in the trailer.

While the tease doesn’t expand on why Urzikstan is on the map, the trailer is still very clearly a self-aware tease. As the camera pans out from the map,Modern Warfare’s Captain Priceis revealed. Price mentions that the team still has business in Verdansk, a meta-statement all but saying thatWarzonewon’t be transitioning to a new map yet. But the implication is that Urzikstan is inWarzone’s future. Season 5 or Season 6 could be the big map change fans are waiting for.
This isn’t the first time that Urzikstan has cropped up inModern Warfare, of course. The fictional country has a role inModern Warfare’s campaign, involving an insurgency involving protagonist Farah Karim’s Urzikstan Liberation Force to take on the Russian despot Roman Barkov. It’s unclear if any of these single-player details will bleed into the eventual battle royale map.
There are some locations inUrzikstanthat were previously revealed though. They may or may not be relevant. The city names are Aqtabi, Riyzabbi, Tobraka, Rammaza, and the capital Sakhra. The names aren’t exactly battle royale style names like the boneyard or something equally quotable. As such, they may be completely unused for the battle royale map.
For now,Call of Duty: Warzoneplayers will have to make due with the game’s current map for at least one more season. But they can at least rest easy knowing thatWarzonewill be having a map change soon.Warzoneseasonsare scheduled to last around 8 weeks, though they’re frequently delayed, so a new map could be planned for as soon as August.
