Like most popular online multiplayer games,Call of Duty: Warzonehas a problem with hackers and cheaters. ManyWarzonehackersutilize aimbots to get completely unfair kills on their opponents, and while Infinity Ward has taken steps to attempt to weed cheaters out of the game, they remain a persistent issue. Now the studio has added a new Riot Shield blueprint to the game that makes fun ofWarzonecheaters.
The Riot Shield inCall of Duty: Warzoneis notable because it can render aimbots useless. There are plenty of videos online of Riot Shields being used to ruin aimbotters' attempts at cheating, and so Infinity Ward has added a special blueprint called Cheater’s Bane to the game. Those interested can purchase the Cheater’s Bane Riot Shield blueprint from the in-game store, as there is currently no way to unlock it through gameplay.

While fans may find the Cheater’s BaneRiot Shieldamusing, others are hoping for Infinity Ward to take greater measures in eliminating cheaters from bothWarzoneand the standardModern Warfaremultiplayer. In the past, Infinity Ward has made it so cheaters are matched in the same lobbies together, but there are still many that manage to slip through the cracks and ruin matches for those playing by the rules.
In future, it will be interesting to see what else Infinity Ward does to combat hacking and cheaters in the game.Call of Duty: Warzonecould potentially fall out of favor with fans if the problem becomes too prevalent, and its thunder could get stolen by other BRs on the market. Then again, thefrequent updates toWarzonein terms of new content could keep fans coming back indefinitely, even in the face of hackers and cheaters.
Looking ahead, theWarzoneSeason 5 updateis expected to bring with it some big changes to the battle royale map. Leakers have suggested that Stadium will open up come Season 5, and that the new season will also add a constantly moving loot-train to the map, alaApex Legends.
Not only that, butWarzoneSeason 5 is said to start teasing theCall of Duty 2020reveal, rumored to be aBlack Opsreboot. Whether or not any of this actually comes to pass remains to be seen, but fans should stay tuned.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
