Call of Duty: Warzonehas plenty of vehicles for players to use, though aerial options have been limited to helicopters thus far. However, that could be changing soon, as aCall of Duty: Warzoneleaker has suggested that planes are on the way to Verdansk.
These planes will supposedly be coming inCall of Duty: Warzone’s Payload game mode. Debuting as part of Season 4 Reloaded, the mode will be unlike anything the battle royale game has ever seen. Pitting two teams of 20 against each other, Payload will task players with escorting a caravan across a specific part of Verdansk. LikeOverwatch’s Escort mode, one team will have to stop the attackers, which can be done by killing them or building barricades. The mode will also feature a unique mechanic where buildings can be bought with in-game money.

With the Payload game mode doing so many new things, the suggestion that it could add a new vehicle type is not too outlandish. The rumor comes courtesy of @ZestyCODLeaks, a source that has correctly leaked information onCall of Duty: Warzone’s vehiclesin the past. With the leaker also having an integral role in the rumors aboutCall of Duty: Warzone’s big nuke event, players should feel confident in this new information. The leak coming straight from the game’s code, too, so it is hard to argue against its legitimacy. As always, though, fans should take it with a grain of salt, as there is always a chance it could prove false.
As shown in a screenshot, code reading “plane_vehicle” can be seen clearly. As pointed out by @ZestyCODLeaks themselves, though,Call of Duty: Warzonefansmay want to avoid getting their hopes up. While this could very well be hinting at some controllable planes equipped with weaponry, it could just as easily be an AI-controlled streak or spawn point. Still, the discovery is an interesting one, mainly because it lines up with a previous claim from fellow leaker Tom Henderson.
Back when Henderson revealed that anewCall of Duty: Warzonemapwould be coming alongside the nextCall of Duty, he stated that the map would feature planes as a mode of transport. While many had assumed that the planes would not appear until this new play space made its debut, Raven Software could be adding the vehicles a bit early. Though this is purely speculation, Raven could be using this special Season 4 Reloaded mode to make sure the planes are working correctly, as any issues with the vehicles could be ironed out before the next map debuts.
WithCall of Duty: Warzone’s attack helicopterstill not returning after its second removal, perhaps this would be a wise decision. Regardless, fans will have their answers regarding these planes when Payload makes its debut on July 15.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
