Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2players are experiencing some serious issues with the game and are completely unable to play it with certain hardware configurations. This problem also affectsWarzone 2.To make matters worse,Call of Dutyplayers are also getting shadow bannedfor no apparent reason, with some players reporting that they have had upwards of ten bans that prevent them from enjoying the popular first-person shooter.
Call of Dutyis by and large Activision’s most successful franchise, so it is highly frustrating for players who are invested in the series when they are prevented from playing for whatever reason. The recent shadow ban wave has yet to be resolved in spite of an update to the Ricochet anti-cheat system, and players are trying to find solutions to this problem in the absence of a response from Activision.

The hardware issues plaguingCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2are another issue entirely. Players with AMD Vega series GPUs are encountering a DirectX error when they try to launch the game. Beenox, the Activision subsidiary responsible for the PC version ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2andWarzone 2, acknowledged the issue on April 17, but has yet to resolve it. Players have reported that the error began occurring after the Season 3 update that arrived on April 12, before which the AMD Vega GPUs ran the game quite comfortably. Beenox has not posted any updates on the issue, so it is unknown when a resolution will be forthcoming.
While it’s frustrating when updates break a game, they aren’t always bad news. A recentCall of Dutyupdate fixed some minor visual issues, but those who are dealing with hardware issues and shadow bans are likely unsatisfied with such updates. One can’t help but empathize with these players sinceCall of Dutyis one of the most popular games in the world to the point that it is the central bone of contention in Microsoft’s attempt to acquire Activision Blizzard, the owner of the franchise.
With all the issues plaguingModern Warfare 2,some players can’t help but look forward to thenext iteration in theCall of Dutyfranchise. There are also players out there who are frustrated to the point that they believe the only resolution is to uninstallModern Warfare 2and never play it again. Hopefully Activision and its subsidiary Beenox resolve these issues before too many players give up on the franchise entirely.
