Activision confirms that the multiplayer gameplay ofCall of Duty: Infinite WarfareandModern Warfare Remasteredwill be showcased at September’s Call of Duty XP event.

Although recent games in the series have not always lived up to fan expectations, theCall of Dutyfranchise is still one of the kings of multiplayer. WithCall of Duty: Infinite WarfareandCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remasteredarriving later this year, many fans of the shooter series were wondering exactly when more information on the multiplayer sections of the games would become available. Now, Activision has announced that both titles will have all revealed at Call of Duty XP.

This news was revealed via a trailer from Activision that launched onYouTubetoday. theCall of Dutyexpo will take place this September at the Forum in Inglewood, California, and will give attendees a vast array ofCall of Duty-themed activities to take part in, including the chance to check out theCall of DutyVR experience. Call of Duty XP will also include theCall of DutyWorld League Championship, where teams will compete for $2 million in prize money.

Perhaps the real draw of the expo, however, is the fact that gamers will have their first chance to truly see new multiplayer gameplay in action. Activision has confirmed that it will showcase the multiplayer gameplay of bothInfinite WarfareandModern Warfare Remasteredat this event, but fans will also be able to try out the multiplayer modes themselves, including the newZombies mode that is coming toInfinite Warfare. Unfortunately, this also suggests that the multiplayer modes of both games are unlikely to be the focus of any events taking place at E3 2016. Activision had already confirmed that the focus would primarily be onthe campaign mode ofInfinite Warfare, but some had maintained hope that the multiplayer would still play some role in any presentations taking place.

However, Activision certainly needs to win fans over to the game’s setting, so perhaps a focus on the campaign could be key. Gamers were less than happy with the game’s reveal, withInfinite Warfare’s debut trailergetting plenty of hate online. Perhaps allowing a greater look at how the campaign of the nextCall of Dutyis going to look may soften matters.

That said, there are many that feel Activision and Infinity Ward have already made too many mistakes with this year’s iteration of the franchise. The fact thatModern Warfare Remasteredis only available through purchase of one of the premium versions ofInfinite Warfarehas left a bitter taste for many, and there have even been suggestions thatActivision is botching the remastered versionof theCall of Dutyclassic. Let’s see what E3 - and Call of Duty XP - have in store for fans.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfarewill be released on November 4 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with premium editions of the game coming bundled withCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
