While Season of the Risen is winding down, Bungie is only giving fans small teases about what is coming toDestiny 2whenSeason 17kicks off. Some of what the studio has already shown fans include the new pursuit weapon, changes to Iron Banner, and larger updates to the Crucible, but it has otherwise been quiet about the bigger piece of content. However, this is no longer the case, as Bungie has given fans a tease of the rewards awaiting them in Season 17’s new dungeon, the Light-level, and its release date.
Destiny 2is currently in its fifth year live with its latest expansion,The Witch Queen, serving as the centerpiece for the year. The expansion pits players against Savathun, the Hive god of cunning, who has somehow gained possession of the Light and is plotting against the Last City inside her dangerous Throne World. Guardians must venture into the Throne World to uncover Savathun’s plans and battle the Hive guardians of her Lucent Brood, Hive warriors also imbued with the Light and abilities akin to guardians.

As mentioned above, Bungie gave players a first taste of the new, untitled dungeon on the way in Season 17 with a “high-level” outline of the overall reward pool players can expect. The new dungeon, likeGrasp of Avarice, will feature reprised legendary weapons, though the new one will only have two. A majority of the reward pool will be new gear to grind for including four new legendary weapons, a new exotic and catalyst to earn, either an exotic ship or Sparrow, two legendary emblems, and a new legendary armor set for each class with an Artifice version to earn in the master difficulty dungeon.
The general rewards pool wasn’t the only piece of informationBungiedropped in the post, as the studio let players know when they would be able to jump into the dungeon and the difficulty awaiting them. Players won’t be waiting long as the dungeon is scheduled to go live on Friday, May 27 at the daily reset at 1 PM EST/10 AM PST. The base Light-level players will need to be at to hop in for the normal dungeon is 1550, while the master difficulty Light-level will be revealed when players load up the dungeon.
The only information that remains a secret is what the dungeon will entail and how it will tie into the larger season. Like the raids, the dungeons are generally related to either the seasonal narrative, theme, or enemy, none of which Bungie has revealed at the time of this writing. A safe guess is the next season will have as much of a focus on the Hive, given the race’s central role in the expansion andSeason of the Risen.
