Following the release ofMetroid Dread, the game has seen a massive amount of success and popularity. Being the first new 2DMetroidinstallment to release since 2002,Metroid Dreadhas drawn in a massive amount of both experienced and new players. However, Nintendo recently chose to advertiseMetroid Dreadby way of a celebrity who has had a massive amount of personal experience with both Nintendo games and theMetroidfranchise altogether.
In recent years,Brie Larson, known for her work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as a variety of other big budget Hollywood films, has expressed her passion for various Nintendo games. Larson’s YouTube channel has numerous pieces of Nintendo-centric gaming content, with games likeAnimal Crossing: New Horizonstaking center stage. Although, Larson also has a great passion for theMetroidseries, as evidenced by a recent Instagram ad she made.

Over on Larson’s Instagram page, she posted a fifty second video ad of her playing and discussingMetroid Dreadon theNintendo Switch OLED. In addition to her enthusiasm in terms ofMetroid Dread, Larson also talks about her love for Samus as a character and how she has always played as Samus in every iteration ofSuper Smash Bros.
It’s clear that Larson possesses a great amount of love and reverence for theMetroidfranchise, to the point whereBrie Larson even talked about playing Samus in a live-actionMetroidmovieduring anAnimal Crossing-themed talk-show. It’s nice to see someone with as large of a platform as Larson discuss video game franchises likeMario,Animal Crossing, andMetroidwith a great degree of fondness.
Considering how long it’s been since an entirely newMetroidinstallment release, it’s amazing to see such a positive response from so many in the gaming community. WithMetroid Dreadbreaking the franchise' sales record, the demand for newMetroidcontent is clearly there. Though, it’s too soon to tell what Nintendo plans to do with the series.
In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds forMetroidgoing forward. WhileMetroid Prime 4remains under active development, fans of the series still have no idea when to expect the game to release. Then again,Metroid Dreadwas originally supposed to release on the Nintendo DS, only to release on the Nintendo Switch several years later. It’s possible that fans just need to be patient and trust that Nintendo is working diligently to makeMetroid Prime 4a memorable experience.
