Hyperstrange has exclusively revealed to Game Rant that legendary actor Stephen L. Russell will be portraying the main character inBlood West. For the uninitiated,Blood Westis a first-person horror stealth game/immersive sim set in a wild west filled with supernatural monstrosities and demonic entities for players to contend with. It features sandbox gameplay that gives players the freedom to tackle each situation in a number of ways, all presented in a retro art style that calls back toimmersive sim classics.
Blood Westfirst hitSteam Early Accessin February 2022 and has enjoyed a great deal of success so far.Blood Westboasts an impressive Very Positive overall rating on Steam at the time of this writing, with users praising the game’s gripping atmosphere and challenging stealth mechanics. The officialBlood Westrelease date is December 5, coinciding with a fresh update that will see the addition of a dangerous mountain area to the game’s spookywild west world. Game Rant can confirm that the update will also see the debut of Stephen L. Russell as the voice ofBlood West’s nameless main character. Stephen Russell’s casting makes perfect sense forBlood West, especially when one considers his extensive history in the immersive sim genre.
Stephen Russell has been lending his voice to video games for decades, with some of his most famous performances found in immersive sim games. Russell was the original actor for protagonist Garrett in theThiefseries, portraying the character in the original 1998 game as well as its first two sequels. Russell also played various characters inSystem Shock 2, and more recently appeared as the voice ofCorvo inDishonored 2.
Fans may also recognize Russell’s voice from various Bethesda games, particularly theFalloutseries. Russell has voiced characters inFallout 3,Fallout 76, andFallout 4, with his role asfan favorite character Nick Valentinein the latter being one of the most memorable. Russell even appeared in Bethesda’s newest game, open world sci-fi RPGStarfield, voicing multiple characters. Needless to say, Russell is making quite the impact in gaming this year between hisStarfieldperformances and his role as the main character in the promising wild west horror gameBlood West. Fans will be able to check out Russell’s performance inBlood Westfor themselves when the game launches this December.
