Beyond Good and Evil 2, the long-awaited sequel/prequel to Michel Ancel’s cult classic title from 2003, still feels like it’s a million light years away from being released, which isn’t surprising considering it was only officially announced during E3 2017. But while the game is no doubt far from complete, fans have been privy to new updates, with somepre-alpha gameplaybeing shown off at this year’s E3, and now there’s even more on the way.
While originally planned for this month, a new gameplay demo will be shown off via livestream on December 10th. It’s not currently known exactly how long the demo will be or what will be shown off - it could simply be more of what we saw at E3 or maybe a new location and mechanics, or even the character customization. Maybe gamers will finally get a closer look at the first game’s protagonist, Jade, who appears inBeyond Good and Evil 2as a potentially more antagonistic character considering its status as a prequel. At this point, it’s just pure speculation.

This announcement came from senior producer Guillaume Brunier, who also confirmed that the planned Beyond Good and Evil Fest (or BGEFest), which was announced at E3 this year, would, unfortunately, be postponed until 2019. Brunier stated that this was due to more time being needed to develop all the community event preparations. Maybe fans will finally be able to get their hands on the title at the event in France, as Ancel himself has stated that a playable beta won’t be available untilthe end of 2019.
Beyond Good and Evil 2will allow players to create their own character toexplore an open and shared universe, where they can interact with other players, gain multiple spacecrafts and crew members as they fly from planet to planet. The decision to do a prequel has created something of a mixed response, with some fans more eager to see the first game’s narrative continue rather than see what came before, though Ancel has said to expect at least some sort of narrative element.
Beyond Good and Evil 2currently has no release date or intended platforms.
