Battlefielddeveloper DICE has announced a new event is coming toBattlefield 2042called the Battle of Nordvik. ThisBattlefield 2042event will last for three weeks and have three different stages.

Battlefield 2042is the latest title in the long-runningBattlefieldfranchise, and also one of the most poorly received titles. So much so, in fact, thatBattlefield 1has seen a resurgence in popularitysix years after its release. Despite the game’s poor performance on launch, DICE has continued to put out content for the game. With the recent release of Season 3: Escalation there is even more content for players to dive into, including the upcoming Battle for Nordvik event.

DICE announced the Battle for Nordvik event with a video on the officialBattlefieldYouTube channel showing combat on the Spearhead map, which wasadded in Season 3: Escalation. The video flashes through intense battlefield scenes, showing combatants exchanging gunfire across the torn-up terrain of Sweden and the close quarters inside weapons factories. The event will start on December 20 and run for three weeks until January 10, with each week featuring a different game mode. Players can choose to side with Black Storm, a covert ops unit tasked with capturing the Nordvik facility, or with the Nordvik Control Corps, a corporate security team who must defend against the assault.

The first week will feature aclassicBattlefield32v32 Conquest Assault mode, with Black Storm assaulting the Nordvik defenses. The defending team will start by controlling all the objectives, but with their HQ spawn disabled. The attacking team has to battle their way through the map and take each objective, but has the benefit of an increased ticket count. The second week phases into the Black Storm defense of the Nordvik facility. Nordvik operatives will attempt to infiltrate the facility and destroy sensitive information before it’s compromised in a 16v16 game mode that combines Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush. Finally, week three will feature the return of the Nordvik Control Corps to liberate the facility. The third game mode will be 64v64 Breakthrough Chaos with faster movement speed, faster redeploy times, and faster vehicle call-ins.

This event definitely seems like it will be a fun and engaging time forBattlefieldplayers, especially with the way that each week will bring a new game mode to the table. If the unique gameplay isn’t enough to get people interested, the event rewards and free store items offered during the event should do the trick. Of course, this might not be enough to bring back players who have widely criticizedBattlefield 2042. DICE has clearly put a lot of effort into this event, however, which dedicated fans will probably appreciate.

Battlefield 2042is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
