While all the kids at the cool table keep waiting for the next season of the incredibleHarley Quinnseries after it was announced almost a year ago, it seems like some of them have decided to temper their impatience with some creative endeavors. The convenient thing about animated shows is that fan art tends to be a lot easier to make, since it’s already a cartoon. But one particular viewer, perhaps driven by the seemingly unending wait for season 3, apparently thought that just a regular awesome drawing was too obvious for Poison Ivy.
In perhaps the best possible progression from the world of unsettlingly realistic fan art (like this particularlyhorrifying take on theAmong Usimposter), a dedicated fan of the HBO MaxHarley Quinnseries has taken one of the fan-favorite characters and turned her into a shockingly lifelike portrait. Now, granted, most characters onHarley Quinnare fan favorites. But Poison Ivy is one of those who might trigger a deluge of phone calls to therapists around the world if she were to leave the show. That endearing quality has somehow managed to translate beautifully into this A.I.-enhanced piece of artwork.

Created by Reddit userFamousHovercraft3704, whose username appears tailor-made to spite anyone attempting to write it, this remarkably detailed headshot not only looks like an actual person, it faithfully captures the eternally snarky look that Ivy sports through every appearance onHarley Quinn. The user claims that the image was created entirely using A.I. software, which possibly makes the whole piece all the more impressive. It’s one thing to just plug some info into artificial intelligence and let it ride, but it’s another thing entirely for the end result to look so… human. Considering the other things this technology has wrought, such as anA.I.-written sequel toSolo: A Star Wars Story, this success seems almost like a miracle.
Perhaps one of the more intriguing aspects of the computer-generated image is how it not only looks like this Ivy could be a real person, but she actually looks like a specific person (several, in fact). Many replies in the comments on Reddit were quick to point out that the deadpan green activist looks surprisingly like Emma Stone. Aside from that, one might even think there’s a bit of Kristen Stewart in there, especially in the intense eyes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though thisPoison Ivy resembles Megan Foxmuch, given how some seem to really enjoy the idea of her taking on the role.
TheHarley Quinnversion of Poison Ivy, voiced by Lake Bell, quickly won over fans with her no-nonsense yet still occasionally soft personality. Her dry humor was also likely a prime reason for her popularity. When Harley and Ivy became an official couple at the end of season 2, fan love for both characters naturally skyrocketed, making the wait for the upcoming season all the more difficult. In a show that depicts these normally villainous characters in a more sympathetic light (to the point where its creatorcompares it toThe Mary Tyler Moore Show), the line between heroes and baddies seems to blur even more with each episode.
This piece of artwork could just further prove just how cool it would be to see a similar version of Poison Ivy in a live-action project. Margot Robbie, who’s been playing Harley Quinn on screen for 3 movies and counting now, has even beencampaigning to get Poison Ivy in a DCEU movie. So the interest is there. But in the meantime, the imaginations sparked by FamousHovercraft3704 are sure to be going wild, just as soon as they finish reading the entire username.
