Summary
This article has some spoilers for Baldur’s Gate 3
Following the latest patch forBaldur’s Gate 3, new dialogue has been discovered for the game’s resident vampire companion, Astarion.Baldur’s Gate 3Patch 6, which was released on February 16, also contained a staggering amount of quality-of-life upgrades, alongside new animations and bug fixes.

Baldur’s Gate 3has been praised for its writing and the depth of its characters, winning multiple awards for developer Larian Studios and Astarion’s performer, Neil Newbon. Its emotionally intelligent representations of trauma have endeared the game to fans, with many feeling empowered by seeing struggles similar to their own reflected in the characters' stories.
Discovered by Reddit user rachel-angelina, the new dialogue is only available for players romancing a vampire spawn Astarion, and is set to generate if the player cheats on The Pale Elf with Wyll’s patron, Mizora, when she propositions them at camp. To remain in Astarion’s good–though disappointed–graces, players must now roll a 15 or higher on either a Charisma or Persuasion check. When the player succeeds, Astarion suggests they put the infidelity behind them. Failing the check, however, sees Astarion standing up to the player, confronting them for being selfish: “…[R]ight now I see everything I’ve been trying to escape in you. Even I deserve better than this.” The dialogue used prior to the newly released Patch 6 for discovering the player’s tryst with Mizora is still in the game, but will now only generateif Astarion has ascendedand is no longer a vampire spawn.
Baldur’s Gate 3 New Astarion Dialogue
This change to Astarion’s dialogue seems to be a welcome addition for fans of the character, with many feeling that the change better represents his internal growth up to that point in his story. Hispersonal storyline inBaldur’s Gate 3revolves around overcoming the abuse and dehumanization he experienced at the hands of his former master, Cazador, so his new reaction makes sense for a character trying to heal from their past while rediscovering their self-worth.
Though big news for Astarion as a character, the new dialogue is only a minuscule piece of what Patch 6 contained forBaldur’s Gate 3players. Much of Larian’s lead-up to the patch’s releaseshowcased the new kissing animations, garnering plenty of attention, although much of the update was devoted to fixing persistent bugs with game mechanics.
