What Does The Player Get From Killing Them?

If the player decides to kill Zealot Malik and Adept Merim, then they will receiveone of the most coveted items in the game, a parasite specimen. In fact, they’ll receive one from each of the guards.

Besides that, they also have different loot on them.

For Zealot Malik, here’s what the player can expect to find:

• Short bow

• Moonrise Guard’s Key

•Horseradish

And when it comes to Adept Merim, she also has some stuff on hand:

• Chicken Egg

• Dried Pork Sausage

The undead that fight with them will hold no loot of their own.

Speaking To Zealot Malik and Adept Merim

The second the player gets close to Zealot Malik and Adept Merim, a conversation will start. Since Zealot Malik and Adept Merim both have parasite specimens, they can probe the player’s thoughts and determine they are a true soul.

Zealot Malik specifically does that upon encounter. Unless the player says something they know they shouldn’t say, they’ll be able to pass right through with no problems.

However, if the player wants to fight them, they can say that they’re there to take their heads. And, with that, the confrontation will start.

How To Kill Zealot Malik and Adept Merim?

When starting the fight, the player should keep in mind that Zealot Malik has a high defense while Adoet Merim can cast quite powerful spells. On top of that, they have a horde of ghouls who will aid them in their fight against the player.

If playing on normal difficulty, Zealot Malik will have 70 hit points while Adept Merim will have 58 hit points. Each of the ghouls will have 22 hit points. As an Adept, if Merim’s hit points reach 0, she will gain +1 HP to save her life. Meaning, the player will have to attack her once more to end her for good.

Guardian of Faith is a powerful spell that Adept Merim can cast. If she casts it in a spot, the best thing the player can do is take their characters out of its range as it can do terrifying damage.

The player should of course focus their attacks on Zealot Malik and Adept Merim before taking down the ghouls as they’re the heavy hitters. Once those two are down, the ghouls should be easy to finish.

When the fight is done, the guardian will let the player know that there’s a parasite nearby.

Are They Worth Killing?

In short, no, they’re not worth killing as this will cause the entirety of Moonrise to turn hostile, making it impossible to explore without having to fight everyone, which includes Ketheric Thorm and other powerful fighters.

In addition to that, the player will be able to loot their bodies anyway after the attack on Moonrise Towers starts, after dealing with Ketheric Thorm’s relic.Indeed, when the player arrives there, they’ll already be dead and finished. At that point, the player can simply go to them, and take all they have on, the best part being the parasite specimen they each hold.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available to play on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5.
