When players meet Isobel and Aylin, they have been separated from each other for more than a century. Isobel died, and was dead for a long time before she was resurrected. While distraught about the loss of her lover, Aylin was captured and held prisoner byGeneral Ketheric Thorm, so that the man could steal the divine immortality her mother Selune provided. Both characters think that their partner is gone, and they have no chance of reuniting.
Should players choose to protect Isobel at theLast Light Innand rescue Aylin from her imprisonment, the couple can have a heartwarming reunion after so many years apart. It is one of the game’s sweetest moments, with both expressing joy and amazement that they have managed to come together once again. The time apart has not dimmed their love, only strengthened it - in fact, Aylin sends the player away with a blunt “I have a darling to adore.”

WhileDame Aylin and Isobel’slove is strong and can be heartwarming should they both survive, the many choices available to players inBaldur’s Gate 3mean that there are many outcomes in which the two do not get to reunite. Depending on what the player decides, either or both of the lovers can wind up dead:
