TheElder Brain is the main cause of the protagonists' adventures, so the entire plot ofBaldur’s Gate 3revolves around it. The first encounter with it occurs in Act 2, where players learn who is behind the Illithid tadpoles plague and how they control the Elder Brain. However, the game doesn’t give a chance to fight it unless Gail blows up his orb, which is clearly not the best solution. The mainencounter with the Elder Brain will take place in Act 3, but you may need help finding and confronting it inBaldur’s Gate 3.
BG3: How to Find and Confront the Elder Brain
The Confront the Elder Brain quest begins at the end of Act 2 when players learn that the Chosen Three control it. After defeating Ketherick Torm, you get the first Netherstone. After that, the main goal is to get the other 2, which are held by Gortash and Orin. Also, after leaving Moonrise Towers, the Dream Visitor will advise finding more allies before the main fight, which will actually become the second main task to be done in Act 3.
Players have several different choices of how to deal with Gortash. They can attack him at the first meeting, but it will be a very difficult fight. There is also an option to become allies with him and later betray and kill under more favorable circumstances. If not,Gortash will go to the Elder Brain with you,and this will still lead to his death. As for Orin, you need to kill her one way or another. After that, it will be possible to go to the Elder Brain from the Bhaal Temple.
BG3: Elder Brain Location
From the Temple of Bhaal waypoint, go north. This will bring you to the Morphic Pool Dock, where you have to get on a boat. This is a non-return point, so verify to complete all the quests and find all the desired allies.
When the party arrives at their destination, they will find a fairly linear location in which they will have to defeat about a dozen Intellect Devourers. Moving on, they will finally have a meeting with the Elder Brain. After an unsuccessful attempt to conquer him, the Emperor will take the protagonists to the Astral Prism. There, players will have to decide whether to side with the Emperoror free Orpheus. If they choose the latter, they will have to decide who will turn into Illithid and then go to the portal in the High Hall.
All allies will gather there, and after that, the party will go to the meeting with the Elder Brain. Along the way, players will face a battle with a group of various enemies who support the Absolute. Next, move up the stairs until you reach the Brain Stem. After that, cutscenes will begin, followed by a fight with the Elder Brain.
