Microsoft has provided itself onXbox’s backward compatibility and how it’s not only given gamers access to classic games, but has enhanced them through things like FPS Boost and the like. Now a new Back Compat sale is giving Xbox gamers the chance to get their hands on some of the best original Xbox and Xbox 360 games at a significant discount.
The Back Compat Sale is live for Xbox owners on the Microsoft Store and will last until next week. It features a wide range of games, with Microsoft selecting six titles in particular as the headliners. TheoriginalRed Dead Redemptiongame on Xbox 360is available for $9.89, whileFEAR 2: Project Origincan be snagged for $4.99. The originalSkategame is $5.99, whileSplinter Cell: Double Agentis available for $5.99. The originalMax Paynegame is being sold for $8.99, and finally,TimeSplitters 2, the critically-acclaimed first-person shooter from the original Xbox, can be purchased for a mere $2.49.

While these five games are the ones that Xbox has selected to be featured at the top of the Back Compat Sale, they are far from the only backward compatible games on offer. Fans clickhereto see the full list, but here is a selection of some of the more noteworthy titles and their current prices.
Xbox Back Compat Sale Games
This is quite the lineup for Xbox fans that want to take a stroll down memory lane. A couple of the original Xbox games on offer includeRed Dead Revolver, theprecursor to theRed Dead Redemptionseries, as well as the 3D platformer/action-adventure gameSphinx and the Cursed Mummy.
There’s a much larger selection for those more interested in Xbox 360 games to check out, including the originalBioShockas well as the originalPrey. For those unfamiliar with the originalPreygame, it first released in 2006 and is quite different from thePreyrebootthat was released by Arkane Studios and Bethesda. This version ofPreyhas a gimmick focused on traversing the game world using portals, and it stars a Native American protagonist named Domasi “Tommy” Tawodi who finds himself fighting alien creatures aboard a spaceship.
