Doomfist is an antagonist within theOverwatch 2universe who uses violence and force to achieve his goals, sometimes at the expense of innocent lives. He is said to be a highly effective warrior and natural leader, which allowed him to quickly rise through the ranks of Talon before becoming the leader of the evil organization. He also shares some surface-level similarities with Kratos in that they are both hulking warriors who often don’t wear shirts. OneOverwatch 2fan took advantage of this resemblance to create an interesting skin for Doomfist.
Reddit user ElDrGoku made a post to theOverwatch 2subreddit that showcases their new Doomfist skin. Like otherOverwatch 2skins, the new remodel maintains Doomfist’s original proportions and silhouette, while redesigning him to feature Kratos' clothes, facial features, warpaint, and more. Many commentors were highly impressed with ElDrGoku’s creation, with some suggesting that it should be added as an event skin in the future. Since the Kratos reskin resembles Doomfist quite closely, users mused that the skin would probably be in the epic tier rather than legendary.
Although many users were voicing their support for the skin to be added to the game, others suggested that this would be an unlikely crossover sinceMicrosoft now owns theOverwatchfranchise after its purchaseof Activision Blizzard. And on the other hand, Sony owns theGod of Warfranchise and is one of Microsoft’s major competitors. However, this didn’t stop fans from expressing their excitement over the crossover skin, which makes more thematic sense than one might think at first glance.
Throughout recentGod of Wargames, Kratos has evolved into a much calmer person, at least compared to how he used to act.Kratos has changed in many ways throughout theGod of Warfranchise. Earlier in his life, Kratos was a bloodthirsty warrior who did whatever it took to win a battle, made evident during the flashbacks seen in 2005’sGod of War. He did not worry about collateral damage as long as it helped his goals to be achieved, which is similar to Doomfist’s lore.
ThroughOverwatch 2’s voice lines, it’s evident that Doomfist is aware of his past actions, some of which are considered to be atrocities. Doomfist believes that the world must be torn down and rebuilt to create a better humanity, and that some innocents must die for a better future to be created. His lack of empathy for the average person bears some resemblance to Kratos' early days.
