Assassin’s Creed Valhallahas a slightly different progression system than its predecessors. Players have both an ability tree and a skill tree. Skills are unlocked through gameplay experience while abilities are acquired by locating the Books of Knowledge scattered throughout the many locations in the game.

Because all gamers need to do is find the books, they can acquire a lot of abilities very early on in the game. However, finding each book can be aperplexing task if gamers have no clue where to starttheir search. This guide will help players find each Book of Knowledge byoutlining the best routesto each location.
Books Of Knowledge
Players will be able to find and interact with eighteen out of the twenty two books as soon as they begin the campaign. Gamers will need tocomplete specific campaign missions to unlockthe final four. To make the quest easier, players can lower the difficulty while traveling into higher level zones. Gamers that refuse to take shortcuts may want to wait until they have progressed through the campaign to look for books in areas with high level enemies.
Norway
Gamers can find four abilities in Norway, which can be accessed early in the campaign. All are detailed below.
Throwing Axe Fury
Throwing axe fury is one of the few books located in Norway. Players will need to travel to the large island to the west of Fornburg. Gamers will find the book just to the southwest of Notfall, which is on the eastern end of the island. The ability is not very useful, and will be replaced early in players' progression.
Thorn of Slumber
The ability will allows players to put enemies to sleep while using the bow. Just south/southwest of the throwing axe fury book lies the Thorn of Slumber book.
Rage of Hellheim
The Rage of Hellheim ability can be found in Rygjafylke during one of the first raids in the campaign. The book is located behind the waterfall near Kjotve’s Fortress. The ability is powerful when taking on just one enemy.
Mark of Death
Mark of Death allows players to shoot arrows at multiple enemies. It is one of just a few area of effect attacks inValhalla. Gamers need to travel to Alrekstad and travel a short distance to the east. Players will find the ability book relatively quickly.

England
Players can find the remaining fourteen early game ability books in England. Players should double-check the recommended power level before wandering into the more dangerous zones.
Harpoon Impalement
Players will want to have the Harpoon Impalement ability, as it is one ofthe most useful in the game. The harpoon will impale enemies and pull them closer, allowing players to use their melee attacks. The book is located to the south of Ledecestrescire to the west of Venonis.
Dive Of The Valkyries
The stunning ability is unlocked if players locate the book on the Isle of Ely Monastery. The book is all the way on the southeast corner of the map.
Raven Distraction
The first Raven skill book is to the west of Ledecestrescire to the north of Tonnastadir. Players will find it if they travel along the road the leads north and look to the right.
Piercing Shot
Players need to head from Tonnastadir to the northeast portion of Ledecestrescire. Gamers will find the book in the Templebrough Fort.
Focus of The Nornir
Focus of The Nornir is one of the most powerful ranged abilities in the game. The ability book will be found a few hours into the campaign where players will find themselves in a tomb south of Ledecestrescire.
Blinding Rush
The initial assassination ability can be picked up in East Anglia just north of the Ruined Tower.
Axe Blizzard
Gamers that want to spam axe throws should pick up the ability in East Anglia. It is located just to the east of the lowercase “a” in Anglia.
Rush And Bash
The slam damage attack will deal devastating blows to enemies. Gamers will need to travel to Grantebridgescire and head south to Ravensburg. The book is just to the southwest of the R in Ravensburg on the map.
Incendiary Powder Trap
The Incendiary Powder Trap is an essential ability for gamers of all play styles. It is an explosive arrow that causes both blast and fire damage to foes. The ability book is located just to the northeast of Walden in the Grantebridgescire area.
Man’s Best Friend
Players will be able to command their animal to attack if they find the ability book in Oxenfordscire. The book is in Crepelgate Fort on the outskirts of Lunden.
Vengeance of Thor
As the name suggests, Vengeance of Thor is one of the most devastating attacks in the game. The attack is a two hit kill against elite enemies. Players can find the ability book on the west end of Oxenfordscire north of Oxeneforda.
Poisonous Powder Trap
The poison arrow attack is unlocked in Northumbria just to the southeast of Jorvik. Players will find the book just to the south of the Petuaria Ruins.

Kick of Tyr
The fan-favorite ability book is just to the north of the Petuaria Ruins at Threaded Pass.
Feign Death
Gamers can play possum with the Feign Death ability. Players will find the ability book in Aelfwood.
