Summary

A talented artist and gamer recently came up with a stunningPlayStation 5DualSense Controller concept inspired by the upcomingAstro Botgame. Ever since it was first revealed to the public back in 2020, the DualSense controller has been a hallmark of thePlayStation 5thanks to its striking white-and-black design and plethora of gameplay-enhancing features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that adjust to whatever is happening in titles likeGod of War RagnarokandMarvel’s Spider-Man 2.

To many new PlayStation 5 owners, these features were demonstrated inAstro’s Playroom, a follow-up to the 2018 PlayStation VR titleAstro Bot Rescuethat came pre-installed on the PS5 when it launched in late 2020. Essentially a tech demo for the new system and its cutting-edge controller,Astro’s Playroombecame incredibly popular with PS5 players thanks to its charming atmosphere, fun gameplay, andvarious references to first-party PlayStation franchiseslikeUnchartedandGod of War. Late last month, Sony announced a sequel during its PlayStation State of Play May 2023 livestream in the form ofAstro Bot.

In honor of the upcomingAstro Bot, Twitter user and PlayStation-centric YouTube channel TCMFGames shared a concept rendering for a PS5 DualSense controller inspired by the game. Said controller sports a white-and-blue color scheme with glowing blue lines along the front plates, and a touchpad decorated with Astro’s black, screen-like face and blue eyes. This controller design was actually featured in theAstro Botreveal trailer, where Astro Bot rode it like a spaceship across colorful and beautifully rendered environments.

PS5 Fans Want Astro Bot’s In-Game DualSense To Be Real

TCMFGames says that Sony should release a physical version of this PS5 DualSense controller in time forAstro Bot’s release on September 6, a sentiment that many Twitter users in the comment section agree with. GivenAstro’s Playroom’s nature as a testing ground for the then-newDualSense’s haptic feedbackand adaptive triggers, this would be a fitting tie-in for the new game that already looks to deliver more of the charm that made its predecessor a hit with PS5 newcomers nearly four years ago.

Said charm involves even references and cameos fromother first-party PlayStation titles, with robots modeled afterUncharted’s Nathan Drake,God of War’s Kratos, andHorizon Forbidden West’s Aloy among countless others. From these Easter eggs, it seems likeAstro Boywill continueAstro’s Playroom’s incorporation of the PlayStation brand, especially in the form of a customPS5DualSense design that could very easily be a real controller if Sony wishes it.
