Apex Legendsseason 10 is less than a month away, but season 9 is aiming to go out with a bang. The OG Kings Canyon and World’s Edge mapsmay be gone for now, but a new event has started: Thrillseekers. With it comes the addition of the new Arenas map Overflow, new challenges pertaining to the event, and new skins in the store.

EveryApex Legendsevent comes with a selection of skins, and this one is no different. Chuckles the Barrelman turns Mirage into a clown, while Ring Leader gives Gibraltar an interesting Taurus theme. Pathfinder and Revenant, both robots (technically), get opposing team-styled skins, with Pathfinder taking the blue side and Revenant taking the red side. Red makes perfect sense given Revenant’s base appearance, but the style and tone of the new skin also caught the eyes of a fewPokemonfans.

First posted by Redditor sskyer, a close look at Revenant’s new Seeing Red Skin reveals that his ball-shaped shoulders look a lot like Pokeballs. The left shoulder mimics the appearance of a traditional Pokeball, with a red top, white bottom, and button in the middle. Meanwhile, the right should looks like aFast Ball from thePokemonfranchise.

For many, this may be one of those design choices that cannot be unseen, but what’s most interesting is how it fits into the theme overall too. Redditor sskyer jokingly refers to the skin as “Gym Leader Revenant,” but that’s also because the overall skin looks like something of a real-life gym trainer. The same could be said ofPathfinder’s skin, as they are like opposing Gyms, but Revenant’s stands out as the mostPokemon-like.

Chances are, this was not an intentional design asApex Legendsisn’t something someone immediately connects with thePokemonfranchise. Of all the legends that someone may try to associate,Revenant’s grim backstorymay not be the most fitting forPokemon’s typical child-friendly stories either. However, for fans of both franchises, it certainly stands out.

After all, a lot of eyes are currently onRevenant inApex Legends' metaanyway. Anything and everything for him is likely to be spotted, thanks to the current “Revtane” strategy in the game. Many players are being plagued by other teams using Revenant’s totem far away, popping out an Octane jump pad (hence the name Revtane), and getting two quick rushes in during a firefight. This is likely to be nerfed somehow in futureApex Legendsupdates, but for now, fans can jokingly pretend it’s aPokemon-related swap-out strategy.

Apex Legendsis available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
