A Twitch streamer andApex Legendsplayer by the name of Leamonheadtv released a clip of him performing an Octane squad wipe that has gone viral. The player chose to single-handedly take it to a two-man team in Energy Depot on the map Olympus. TheApex Legendsstreamer approached the attack in the most unorthodox ways and ended up surprising the squad and killing them both.Apex Legendsis Respawn Entertainment-developed futuristic battle royale game set in theTitanfalluniverse. The game combineshero shooters likeValorantorOverwatch 2with the classic shrinking play area of battle royale games. Each of the game’s 23 characters, or Legends, have their Legend-specific passive, active, and ultimate abilities.RELATED:Apex Legends Fan Creates Incredible Replica of Caustic’s Gas TrapIn this game, the player Leamonheadtv was playing Octane,Apex Legends' high-speed characterthat is effective at hit and runs thanks to its movement abilities. This time the attack, however, included only the hit, and even that wasn’t guaranteed to work at all. Leamonheadtv noted himself before trying the stunt, that death is a very likely outcome. The team knew that there were enemies nearby inside the complex, but regular entrance inside the compound was not how Leamonheadtv wanted to deal with the enemy. Instead, they used Octane’s Launch Pad, double jump, and Stim to jump over the void and attack the enemies where they definitely didn’t expect it.
The Launch Pad was placed to get a jump over to the void. In midair over the void, the player performs Octane’s strafing double jump, which is just enough to get over the gap and get to a little opening at the side of the floating compound. That completely took off guard the first enemy who was still seemingly on looting duty. After quickly dispatching the first with an SMG, the player proceeds to open the door and confront the last living member of the enemy team. Another Stim injection toimprove Octane’s movement speedand a few quick Wingman shots later the team is wiped.
Octane is one ofApex Legends' most popular Legendsfor a good reason. Octane’s abilities improve survivability, which is a big deal in a battle royale game, but it is also fiercely efficient in combat. As this clip proves, it can also be used in innovative ways. The addition of a double jump to the Launch Pad has made the movement even more unpredictable and versatile. While this clip happened to be a death-defying stunt performed by someone who really knows how to handle Octane, the class is good even in the hands of Bronze players.
Apex Legendsis available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
