Anthem’s VIP Demo is live this weekend anda number of issueshave plagued the demo since it went live on Friday. One of those issues is an infinite loading problem, keeping players from being able to enter into any activities. According to a new blog post from developer BioWare, fixing this is a priority; however, it might not be resolved before the end of this weekend’s demo.

BioWare’s Head of Live Service, Chad Robertson, wrote on the blog post that the infinite loading problem is not affecting all players, but absolutely some players are seeing it, especially as players go from Fort Tarsis to an expedition. Robertson said that BioWare found the problem during its internal testing ofAnthem; however, the developer thought it had corrected this issue before the demo ever went out into players' hands.

Unfortunately, once the demo entered the wild, the issue cropped up again, with Robertson saying “the problem is exacerbated in the real-world where differences with player’s ISPs and home networks introduce new behavior.”

While it sounds as though BioWare has a lead on what’s causing the issues with the infinite loading problem, Robertson said it might not be fixed beforethe end of the VIP demobecause there’s a risk that a fix could make things worse for an even larger portion of players:

“I want to be upfront that this is a difficult one, and something we may not resolve during this weekend — many players are not seeing this issue and the last thing we want to do is destabilize the experience for everyone.”

This was clearly not the way BioWare had hoped this first public VIP Demo ofAnthemwould go,with Robertson being clear in dispelling a common belief that BioWare did not properly prepare for the server load thatAnthemreceived in this demo. According to Robertson, all the issues presenting themselves are not due to a server capacity deficiency and that the game’s servers have over and above the capacity to match the player population.

There’s no word yet if the VIP Demo will be extended as a result ofthe problems players have encountered. The currently scheduled end time of the demo is Sunday, January 27 at 11 p.m. EST/8 p.m. PST.
