With this in mind, one player decided to decipher these in-game weather patterns in a way that other players could understand. Ash Wolf, a software developer from Glasgow who also goes by the nameNinji, created an app called MeteoNook that can help players predict their islands' weather. By entering known data points into the app, MeteoNook can create a forecast for a specific island’s weather. Players need to input their island’s unique seed number and recording their games current weather by the hour, which is most accurately done if the player identifies the weather at the beginning of the hour. With that compiled information, the app can show future weather that the island will experience.
MeteoNook uses this data to eliminate weather patterns that wouldn’t make sense with the island’s already existing weather. Rainbows as well as double rainbows and aurora borealis can also be predicted this way. The app can display the weather forecast in monthly or yearly breakdowns through theAnimal Crossingsummer and winterseasons. If players have provided accurate information, they can also see the current day’s weather. Ninji says that the predictions are accurate unless players enter incorrect or impossible information. He is working to add a feature that will let players know that they’ve entered weather that is impossible for a certain day, but it isn’t currently available.
Technology like MeteoNook can really help players understand their games and work to create their idealAnimal Crossingislands. While the app is still being perfected, it gives players a peak into how not-so-random some aspects of the game are.
