An enthusiasticPokemonfan on TikTok decided to input all 50 US States into an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered Pokemon creator and shared the incredible results online. With over 800 different types of Pokemon to be found throughout thePokemonfranchise, it can be hard to find a design that is truly unique. The upcomingPokemon Scarlet and Violetbring home the 9th Generation of Pokemon, many of which have yet to be revealed.
In recent years, artists have been deploying AI to assist with creating fantastic pieces of art. Computer processing power has finally reached a point where what was once only found in science-fiction novels can now be used to create, for example, a Pokemon that represents Vermont. Exactly what the AI network is using from each state is unknown as some generated Pokemon resemble landmarks while others are versions of common animals. OtherPokemonfans have also used an AI network to predict thePokemon Scarlet and Violetstarter evolutions.

Pen Paladin has shared a few videos on his TikTok channel highlighting the AI-generated Pokemon. Some results, such as Texas looking like a bull or Pennsylvania resembling the Liberty Bell, accurately reflect the state. Other results, like the masked rock Pokemon representing Nevada, leave room for artistic interpretation. The recently revealedPokemon Scarlet and VioletGimmighoulcould represent casinos with its unique coin motif. Regardless of accuracy to the US State, most of the designs are impressive and could easily be seen as part of the upcoming 9th Gen.
So far, Pen Paladin has shared Pokemon designs for 20 out of the 50 US States. Some of the unique designs, such as California, could be viewed as regional variations of existing Pokemon. Regional variants were introduced back in Gen 7 with the release ofPokemon Sun and Moon. The upcomingPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill also have regional variants, though how many and which specific Pokemon are unknown at this time.
The reaction to Pen Paladin’s videos has been overwhelmingly positive with over a million views on TikTok so far. Fans are having fun guessing why the A.I. designed each Pokemon to represent their US State. For example, Kansas-basedPokemonfans shared that the A.I. generated Pokemon for their state resembles the Kansas sun bear while most of the comments shared Florida’s Pokemon as being incredibly accurate to the culture of the Sunshine State. ThePokemoncommunity has already beenpre-orderingPokemon Scarlet and Violetin record-breaking numbers, showing that their enthusiasm for the franchise is collectively approaching an all-time high.
