A recent Twitch stream has stoked the fire ofModern Warfare 2 Remasteredrumors that have persisted over the last few weeks. This time it is Activision Editorial Manager Kevin Kelly who is fanning the flames, revealing that the company will be making a big announcement in March. Given the general consensus that aModern Warfare 2 Remastercould be in the cards, it’s no surprise that many like-minded gamers took his statement to be a subtle hint towards a looming reveal.

The rumors of aModern Warfare 2remaster have built steam ever since anaccidental listingon Amazon suggested aModern Warfare 2remaster would release on Jun 06, 2025. This would be far from the first time a remaster has been leaked by a premature retail listing, and the success that Activision had with the remaster ofModern Warfarealmost begs for more remasters to be made. Still, Activision has yet to confirm the existence of aModern Warfare 2remaster in the first place, and there’s nothing concrete that says the March announcement will even beCall of Dutyrelated.

While manyCall of Dutyfans have fond memories of the online experience inModern Warfare 2, an alleged leak shared by CharlieINTEL (and corroborated by additional sources) claimed that the remaster of the popularCall of Dutytitlewon’t feature multiplayerat all. If the remaster gets confirmed as a singleplayer title, it’s possible that it may come bundled with the nextCall of Dutytitle,Black Ops 4, as opposed to being a standalone purchase.

Kelly seemed to backtrack on his initial comment later on in the stream, jesting that, while he said there would be a nice announcement, it may not pertain to theCall of Dutyseries after all:

I did not sayCoDplayers will be happy, about the announcement. Because it is notCoDrelated – or is it? [laughs]. I will say no more, you will find out very soon.

In any event, Activision has yet to confirm that aModern Warfare 2 Remasteris even in the works, though the company’s silence hasn’t done much to slow the conversation and debate. With two different press outlets corroborating the story of the remaster being single player only and one retail outlet accidentally listing the remaster, there’s certainly enough evidence to suggest the title is real. While it’s plausible that Kevin Kelly teased aCall of Dutyannouncement set for March, it looks like gamers will have to wait to see if the announcement will have anything to do with the remaster at all.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remasteredisn’t confirmed, but is rumored to release on July 20, 2025, for PS4 and Xbox One.
